Boeing completes 13-satellite constellation for SES

Boeing completed the 13-satellite O3b mPOWER constellation for satellite operator SES after launching the final three spacecraft. The satellites, designated F11, F12, and F13, lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station to join the 10 units already in orbit.

The satellites must still complete orbit raising and initialization before entering commercial service in mid-2027. Ryan Reid, President of Boeing Satellite Systems International, stated that the project demonstrates the company's execution capacity. The system pairs the O3b mPOWER payload with Boeing's standardized 702X platform, creating a technical baseline that Boeing is also adapting for U.S. Space Force programs, including Evolved Strategic SATCOM and Wideband Global SATCOM.

The completion comes as Boeing ended the second quarter with a total order backlog of $715 billion. That total includes $597 billion in commercial airplanes across the 737 MAX, 777X, 787, and 767 programs. Backlog stood at $85 billion for Defense, Space & Security, and $33 billion for Global Services.

Institutional ownership data shows BlackRock is Boeing's largest institutional shareholder with 61.04 million shares, representing a 7.72% stake. FMR holds 7.46% and Vanguard Capital Management holds 6.51%.
