Slovenia approved Tesla's FSD Supervised driver-assistance system for its roads, Reuters reported on September 8, 2026. The clearance makes Slovenia the sixth European country to approve the software ahead of a potential European Union-wide vote that Tesla expects as early as October 6.
The Netherlands was the first European Union country to provisionally approve FSD in April, followed by France. France raised safety concerns in July and has since started testing two FSD-equipped vehicles following a constructive exchange between its transport minister and CEO Elon Musk. A favorable bloc-wide decision could allow Tesla to deploy FSD across the European Union without seeking separate national approvals.
Tesla enters this regional push after second-quarter deliveries rose 25% year over year to 480,126 vehicles, beating analyst estimates. Active FSD subscriptions reached 1.48 million, a 56% increase year over year. FSD Supervised remains a driver-assistance tool that requires users to stay attentive and ready to intervene, which keeps it under regulatory oversight rather than operating as fully autonomous software.
