Bloomberg News reported the negotiations as the carrier plans 30% capacity growth by March 2027.
The Boeing Company is in talks with India's Akasa Air to supply 200 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, Bloomberg News reported on September 24, 2026. The potential order would build on the carrier's existing all-Boeing fleet as it pursues regional expansion.
Akasa Air currently operates a fleet of 43 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The Indian carrier has ordered 226 Boeing 737 MAX jets to date, including a batch of 150 aircraft booked in January 2024, leaving an existing unfilled backlog of 183 aircraft awaiting delivery from Boeing.
The airline serves 29 domestic and 7 international destinations, holding a 5.5% share of India's domestic passenger traffic. In the first half of 2026, Akasa Air carried 400,525 international passengers, and the carrier targets 30% capacity growth by March 2027.
To fund its expansion, Akasa Air is seeking 10.5 billion Indian rupees, or approximately 109 million dollars, in targeted financing.
