Alpek joins the 35-constituent S&P/BMV IPC index as Grupo Televisa exits.
Bolsa Mexicana de Valores saw changes to its main stock gauge after S&P Dow Jones Indices announced preliminary rebalancing results for the S&P/BMV IPC index on 4 September 2026. The rebalancing sets the entry of petrochemical firm Alpek into the 35-company benchmark, taking the spot previously held by media firm Grupo Televisa.
On 7 September 2026, shares of Grupo Televisa tumbled after the announcement, closing down 13.03% at 7.74 MXN. During the trading session, Televisa shares reached an intraday low of 7.60 MXN, representing a maximum intraday drop of 14.30%.
Conversely, incoming constituent Alpek rose on the exchange. Its shares advanced up to 4.00% during the session to hit an intraday high of 13.58 MXN, before finishing the day up 1.69% at 13.21 MXN.
