Brazil IGP-M inflation rises 0.58% in first October preview
FGV Ibre reports a slowdown from the 0.93% increase recorded in early September.
The General Market Price Index (IGP-M) rose 0.58% in the first preview of October, according to data released on Friday, October 9, by the Brazilian Institute of Economics of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV Ibre). In the first preview of September, the indicator had increased by 0.93%.
Among the three subindexes that compose the indicator, the Broad Producer Price Index (IPA), which carries a 60% weight in the total index, rose 0.67%. This compares with a 1.26% advance in the first preview of September.
The Consumer Price Index (IPC), with a 30% weight in the IGP-M, increased by 0.38%, up from a 0.09% gain in the first preview of the prior month. Meanwhile, the National Civil Construction Cost Index (INCC), which represents 10% of the IGP-M, rose 0.34%, compared with a 0.35% increase in the same preview of September.
