Brazilian industrial output falls in August
The result came in below the lowest market projections as high borrowing costs weighed on activity.
Brazilian industrial production volume dropped in August, delivering a result worse than the lower bound of market forecasts. Economists pointed to the burden of elevated interest rates alongside high debt levels among companies and households.
The contraction aligns with weak business confidence and an unfavourable global backdrop. Analysts noted that government stimulus measures implemented for selected industrial segments during the first half of the year have faded, allowing contractionary monetary policy to exert stronger pressure over the coming months.
For some market analysts, expectations point to flat industrial activity across this year compared to 2025, supported primarily by the extractive sector.
