Copa Airlines resumed flights after operations restarted at Tocumen International Airport following an earthquake in Panama. The airline stated that it is giving priority to returning flights that were diverted to alternate airports back to Panama City.

A large number of flights heading to Panama City were forced to divert, with at least 15 landing at Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport in Barranquilla, Colombia. Copa warned that travelers could still face delays and schedule adjustments as operations gradually normalize.

To assist affected customers, the carrier is allowing passengers with tickets issued up to October 9, 2026, for travel scheduled on October 9 and 10, 2026, to modify itineraries across any Copa route without change fees or fare differences. Rescheduled travel must take place by October 31, 2026.

Passengers may also cancel trips and receive a travel credit equal to their ticket value by contacting the airline call center. Copa recommended checking flight statuses online before heading to the airport.
