The deal will expand total solar capacity to 550 MWp across Chile.
Empresas Copec agreed to acquire the Tamarico II project in Chile's Atacama region through its subsidiary Copec Flux. The company signed the deal with Metlen Energy & Metals to purchase 100% of the project entity once commercial operations begin.
The project combines a 165 MWp solar photovoltaic plant with a battery energy storage system. The battery setup features an initial capacity of 725 MWh, with design plans allowing an expansion of 200 MWh to reach up to 925 MWh.
This addition will bring Copec's total solar generation capacity to 550 MWp. Tamarico II marks the company's third large-scale solar park since 2024, joining Granja Solar, a 123 MWp facility in Pozo Almonte acquired in 2024, and La Huella, an 87 MWp plant in La Higuera added in July 2026.
Together, the three large-scale parks will account for 375 MWp. The remaining capacity includes 145 MWp from distributed generation plants and 30 MWp from ESCO projects developed by Copec Flux.
