The approvals span territories with more than 38 million customers in the US and Canada.
Enphase Energy announced on September 21, 2026, that its Enphase IQ Meter Collar received approval for behind-the-meter installation from 80 utilities across the United States and Canada. These utility companies collectively serve more than 38 million customers.
The device is now approved by all three major investor-owned electric utilities in California and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District. In Hawaii, Hawaiian Electric approved initial pilot installations, with full approval anticipated in the coming months.
The IQ Meter Collar is a microgrid interconnection device that mounts behind the utility meter or on a standalone meter socket. It facilitates whole-home backup power without needing to move circuits to a dedicated sub-panel or install extra consumption current transformers. It forms part of the fourth-generation Enphase Energy System, alongside the IQ Battery 10C and the IQ Combiner 6C, and includes a 15-year limited warranty.
Enphase stated it has shipped approximately 89.4 million microinverters and deployed about 5.3 million Enphase-based systems across more than 165 countries.
