The firm will also invest $125 million in Wonder as it targets stadiums and hotels.
On 18 September 2026, DoorDash announced it is acquiring Wonder's Grubhub Campus Dining business for $300 million. The company is also investing $125 million in Wonder's Series D funding round. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027.
The campus dining network currently operates across more than 450 colleges and universities. It enables students to place orders from dining facilities, pay using dining dollars, and schedule pickups. DoorDash plans to expand this ordering infrastructure beyond university campuses into stadiums, hotels, and similar venues.
The acquisition builds on DoorDash's core momentum. In the second quarter of 2026, DoorDash generated $4.45 billion in revenue and $33.1 billion in Marketplace gross order volume (GOV), a 36% year-over-year increase. Organic GOV growth stood at 23% excluding Deliveroo, while total orders climbed 27% to 970 million. Adjusted EBITDA reached $914 million, up 40%, and quarterly free cash flow expanded to $742 million from $355 million a year earlier. Research and development expenses increased to $535 million from $351 million over the same period.
Alongside the deal, the investment in Wonder provides exposure to robotics and artificial intelligence in food preparation and fulfillment. Wonder has expanded to 157 locations, more than quadrupling its footprint since early 2025, and plans to enter Texas in 2027.
