The partnership includes an equity investment and up to $237 million in milestones per program.
Eli Lilly entered an exclusive research and collaboration agreement with Toronto-based biotechnology company QurCan Therapeutics on 15 September 2026. The partnership focuses on developing non-viral genetic medicines for diseases of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system.
The multi-program deal will leverage QurCan's polymer-lipid nanoparticle delivery platform, known as TERP. QurCan will handle the optimization of therapeutics using this technology. Eli Lilly will oversee further research, clinical development, and commercialization of the selected drug programs.
As part of the transaction, Eli Lilly will provide an upfront payment and make a strategic equity investment in QurCan. QurCan is also eligible for research support payments, tiered royalties on global net sales, and development and commercial milestones that could reach up to $237 million per program.
