The company begins manufacturing 4 kW modules to assemble multi-megawatt solid-state transformer racks.
On 8 September 2026, Enphase Energy announced that it began producing 4 kW power modules in Arlington, Texas. The modules are the foundational units for its IQ Solid-State Transformer racks, which the company is developing to supply power to artificial intelligence data centers moving to 800 VDC architectures.
The IQ SST racks combine hundreds of these 4 kW modules to deliver capacities of up to 5 MW. The system converts medium-voltage alternating current directly to 800 VDC with sub-millisecond response times to dynamic AI loads, which helps reduce the need for local battery energy buffering near computing racks.
Validation testing covers medium-voltage AC levels from 13.8 kV to 34.5 kV, thermal performance, and conversion efficiency. Each module incorporates gallium nitride power-switching components, Enphase's fifth-generation Kestrel ASIC, and a proprietary high-frequency transformer connected across an isolation boundary via a fiber-optic link.
The production process shares design elements with Enphase's microinverters, of which the company has shipped approximately 89.4 million units worldwide. Enphase plans to conduct full-system demonstrations of the racks in November 2026, followed by customer pilot programs in 2027.
