GE Aerospace tests GEK800 cruise missile engine

GE Aerospace and Kratos Defense & Security Solutions announced on September 21, 2026, the successful ignition of the GEK800 turbofan cruise missile propulsion system. The GEK800 Serial Number 1 was tested at the Kratos X-58 test facility.

The successful ignition begins a new testing campaign and marks a 100 percent success rate for this development phase, keeping the project on schedule. The engine was recently designated the F143 and was designed to meet Department of War requirements for long-range, stand-off strike capabilities.

Stacey Rock, President of Kratos' Turbine Technologies Division, noted that the companies are preparing for large volume production of the GEK800 engine. GE Aerospace currently maintains an installed base of approximately 50,000 commercial and 30,000 military aircraft engines, supported by roughly 57,000 employees globally.
