The company energized the first stage of the Ampliación 24 transmission works in La Libertad.
Grupo ISA is advancing its Ampliación 24 power transmission project in Peru through its subsidiary Red de Energía Eléctrica del Perú S.A. (ISA REP). The project involves an approximate investment of $40 million to strengthen transmission capacity for around one million people in Trujillo and surrounding areas.
On 2 September 2026, the company energized the first phase, known as Ampliación 24.1. This phase includes the Chimú substation at 220/60 kV levels with a 50 MVA three-phase transformer, two 220 kV line bays, two 60 kV line bays, and one 60 kV transformation bay. It also sections the 220 kV L-2232 Chimbote–Trujillo Norte line and the 60 kV L-6697 Virú–Chao line.
The final stage is scheduled for delivery on 27 June 2027. It will expand the Chimú substation to 220 kV, 138 kV, and 60 kV levels by adding a 96-120 MVA autotransformer bank with a spare unit, alongside a 50-60 MVA three-phase transformer.
Ferdinand Freitas Do Vale, Project Manager at ISA ENERGÍA, stated that the Chimú substation reinforces subtransmission capacity for Hidrandina users in southern Trujillo during stage one, while aligning with the ISA 2040 Strategy to build resilient energy infrastructure.
