Localiza reaches 1,000 points of contact in Latin America
The car rental group sold over 180,000 used vehicles in the first half of 2026 to fund fleet renewal.
Localiza reached 1,000 points of contact across Latin America with the opening of a new Localiza Seminovos used-car store on Interlagos Avenue in São Paulo. The network has expanded nearly 14% from 880 locations at the end of 2022, adding about 60 sites in 2026 alone. The total footprint includes 892 sites in Brazil, 38 company-operated locations in Mexico, and 70 franchise outlets in other South American countries.
The company relies on its used-vehicle division to fund ongoing fleet renewal. With an overall fleet of approximately 600,000 vehicles, Localiza sells an average of around 30,000 cars per month across retail and wholesale channels. In the first quarter of 2026, the company sold 95,000 vehicles, bringing total first-half sales above 180,000 units. The average age of the rental fleet stood at 19.4 months in the second quarter of 2026.
João Ávila, executive director of operations at Localiza, stated that vehicle sales feed the rental business by generating cash to purchase newer models, noting that sales volumes will continue to match rental expansion needs. Before reaching buyers, each retired vehicle undergoes an inspection of 360 structural and mechanical items. Localiza Seminovos now spans 275 locations across Brazil and Mexico as the division marks its 35th year in 2026.
Alongside physical expansion, the company has broadened its digital rental service, FAST, which allows users to select and retrieve vehicles via facial biometrics without counter service. The digital solution logged 1.1 million contracts in 2025, up 40% from the prior year, and is operational in more than 340 rental branches, representing roughly 57% of the rental network.
