Cloudflare announced the general availability of Cloudflare Basin on October 1, 2026. The new data platform provides developers and enterprises with a serverless architecture to ingest, store, catalog, and query analytical data across existing tools.

Basin is built on the open Apache Iceberg format and Cloudflare R2 object storage. Because data is stored in an open standard, teams can analyze it with compatible tools without vendor lock-in or the need to convert data formats. The service operates on Cloudflare's global network on demand without dedicated server provisioning, and it charges zero transfer fees to move data across clouds, platforms, or regions.

Developers shouldn't need to become data infrastructure operators just to answer questions from their own data. With Cloudflare Basin, we are bringing the same serverless model that developers expect from Cloudflare to analytics: no clusters to manage, no unnecessary data movement, and open standards that keep customers in control of their data.

Dane Knecht, CTO at Cloudflare

The company reported early customer adoption from platforms including Anomaly, the creator of OpenCode, which migrated from an AWS S3 and Athena setup. Julien Grobbelaar, Head of Platform at Bobsled, stated that Basin enables the distribution of AI-ready data products across major cloud platforms without egress fees.
