Lyft Launches Waymo Robotaxis in Nashville

On 14 September 2026, Lyft began offering Waymo fully autonomous robotaxi rides directly through its app in Nashville. Nashville is the first market where Waymo vehicles can be booked through both the Waymo and Lyft applications.

Lyft users requesting Standard, Priority Pickup, Wait & Save, or Extra Comfort rides inside the designated Nashville service area can be matched with a Waymo vehicle at no extra charge. Reuters previously reported that the Nashville agreement was planned as Waymo's first commercial deployment through Lyft's network.

Beyond ride booking, Lyft is expanding its operations through its Flexdrive subsidiary, which will handle charging, cleaning, and maintenance for the Waymo fleet. Lyft reported that a new 80,000-square-foot facility will support more than 70 full-time jobs to help optimize vehicle availability.

The asset-light partnership lets Lyft access autonomous driving technology without developing self-driving systems in-house. While the service carries no passenger surcharge and currently has limited reach, Lyft is operating a hybrid network that combines autonomous and human-driven vehicles.
