Marriott Veteran Liam Brown Joins Chatham Board

Marriott International executive Liam Brown has joined the board of trustees of Chatham Lodging Trust as an independent director, effective immediately. Brown retired from Marriott in June 2026 after a career that began with the company in 1989.

Brown served as Marriott's group president for the United States and Canada from January 2021 until his retirement. In that position, he led financial management and lodging operations across North and South America, overseeing more than 6,000 hotels and about 160,000 associates.

Before taking the Americas leadership, Brown held several regional executive roles at Marriott. He served as president and managing director of Europe from 2018 to 2019, followed by group president of Europe, Middle East and Africa in 2020. Between 2012 and 2018, he was president for franchising, owner services and managed select brands in North America.

His earlier roles at Marriott also included chief operations officer for the Americas covering select service and extended stay lodging, alongside senior vice president and executive vice president development posts.
