The hub strengthens its social commerce strategy as part of a BRL 57 billion investment plan.
MercadoLibre opened a new audiovisual studio in São Paulo to strengthen its social commerce operations. Created in partnership with Community Creators Academy and California Content House, the 193-square-metre facility in the city's west zone provides nine independent transmission areas, including individual studios, a podcast space, and seating for small events.
Renata Gerez, director of social commerce LATAM at MercadoLibre, explained that the facility supports the company's live shopping strategy, allowing consumers to discover and buy products directly inside the app. While MercadoLibre did not disclose the specific cost of the studio, Gerez stated that the project is included in the BRL 57 billion investment plan in Brazil announced earlier this year.
The company's affiliate and creator program currently counts 9 million subscribers across Latin America. In Brazil, the program reached 208 sales per minute during the second quarter of 2026.
In the second quarter of 2026, MercadoLibre reported net revenue of USD 10.2 billion, up 50% year-on-year and above LSEG consensus projections of USD 9.7 billion. Net income reached USD 466 million, topping estimates of USD 433 million, while gross merchandise volume rose 36% on an FX-neutral basis. Operating income fell roughly 17% year-on-year to USD 683 million, above expectations of USD 658 million, leaving the EBIT margin at 6.7% compared with 12.2% a year earlier and 6.9% in the prior quarter.
