The beef producer plans to explore trading tech for the cattle market.
Minerva Foods joined the investor group of Grão Direto, a digital grain trading platform, the agtech announced on September 21, 2026. The two companies are studying ways to adapt agricultural trading technologies for the cattle market, although they have not yet set a formal timeline.
The transaction took place after a venture capital fund that was among Grão Direto's earliest investors exited the company. The parties did not disclose the fund's name, the investment amount, or the size of the stake acquired by the meatpacker.
Potential collaboration areas include applying Grão Direto tools to market intelligence, commercial workflows, and administrative routines at Minerva. The companies are also evaluating the domestic corn market to address feed demand in feedlots and across animal protein operations.
We believe there is plenty of room for innovation in our market, and we want to be at the forefront of this movement.
Minerva joins an investor roster that includes ADM, Amaggi, Bayer, BASF, Cargill, Louis Dreyfus Company, SLC, CME, Banco Rendimento, and Bradesco, alongside funds such as Kaszek, Barn, Lanx, and Endeavor Scale-Up Ventures. Alexandre Borges, CEO and co-founder of Grão Direto, stated that all shareholders hold minority stakes without control or exclusivity. Grão Direto reported 12 million tons of grain traded digitally in 2025 and calculates over 50 million real-time prices per day.
