Nucor to invest $105 million to expand Indiana plant
The project adds 120,000 square feet and 100 jobs at its Crawfordsville towers and structures plant.
Nucor announced on October 8, 2026, an additional 105 million dollar investment to expand production at its Nucor Towers & Structures plant in Crawfordsville, Indiana, pending regulatory and other approvals. The project adds capacity to manufacture utility poles and related products for power transmission and distribution infrastructure.
The expansion will add more than 120,000 square feet of manufacturing space with advanced automation, production equipment, and manufacturing technologies. The site currently employs 328 teammates, and the investment is expected to create 100 new jobs with average annual wages of $87,500.
Nucor Towers & Structures was formed in 2022 after acquiring Summit Utility Structures LLC, which operated a plant in Pennsylvania. Nucor later built facilities in Alabama and Indiana, and is currently constructing another in Utah. Across Indiana, Nucor employs approximately 2,600 teammates at more than a dozen locations, including Nucor Steel Indiana, which began operations in 1989.
