Crude oil prices and US Treasury yields edged down on 29 September 2026 in an accommodation move following recent sharp gains. Around 8:00 AM, Brent crude fell 0.66% to $104.58 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate slipped 0.83% to $91.83 per barrel, as global markets continued to navigate risk aversion driven by the war in Iran.

In the US fixed income market, the yield on the 10-year Treasury note eased from 5.244% to 5.224%, staying at elevated levels due to expectations of higher inflation and interest rates. Meanwhile, US equity index futures showed mixed moves: Nasdaq futures rose 0.16%, while S&P 500 and Dow Jones futures traded near stability. Market participants were also awaiting the release of the US JOLTS job openings report.

The real question, therefore, is not whether 5% is comfortable, but whether the US economy has become less sensitive to interest rates than before. If this resilience persists, the Fed may keep rates high for longer without immediately triggering a recession.

In Brazil, investors monitored the effects of a provisional measure banning sports betting platforms, five days ahead of the first round of the presidential election, where polls showed a tight race between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro. The Attorney General of the Union filed a public civil action against 17 online betting operators, seeking at least BRL 1,000 million in collective moral damages and double restitution for people diagnosed with gambling addiction. The domestic agenda also included the Pnad Contínua unemployment rate, Caged payroll numbers, and the central government primary budget result for August.
