Brazil oil and gas output tops record 6 million boed

Total production rose 2.59% in August from July, according to the ANP regulatory agency.

Brazil's joint oil and natural gas production reached a record in August, surpassing 6 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) for the first time. According to the monthly bulletin from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), output reached 6.002 million boed. This represents a 2.59% increase compared to July's 5.85 million boed and an 18.05% gain from the 5.084 million boed produced in August 2025.

Crude oil extraction alone set a new record of 4.615 million barrels per day in August, up 2.6% from 4.498 million barrels per day in July. Compared to the 3.896 million barrels per day recorded in August of the previous year, oil production expanded by 18.4%.

Natural gas extraction averaged 220.55 million cubic meters per day in August, up 2.6% from 214.97 million cubic meters per day in July. The volume rose 16.8% compared to the 188.9 million cubic meters per day extracted in August 2025.

Pre-salt fields represented 82.6% of Brazil's total output, producing 3.842 million barrels of oil per day and 177.58 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. The Búzios field led crude production with 1.17 million barrels per day, while the Mero field was the largest natural gas producer at 48.93 million cubic meters per day. Both fields are located in the Santos Basin.
