Oracle Health partners with Surescripts on approvals

Oracle Health announced a partnership on September 24, 2026, with Surescripts to integrate Surescripts Prior Authorization Automation directly into the Oracle Health workflow. The integration is planned for general availability in 2027.

The tool retrieves clinical information from a patient's electronic health record and sends it electronically to the pharmacy benefit manager. When criteria are met, the automated system delivers approvals with a median turnaround time of 18 seconds, reducing administrative delays.

A cited 2025 survey showed that 95% of physicians reported prior authorization delays care, and 79% indicated it leads to treatment abandonment. The companies noted that 1 in 4 patients reported that medication costs prevented them from filling a prescription.

Oracle and Surescripts also plan to explore integrating Surescripts First-Fill Abandonment into Oracle Health workflows. This tool flags when patients do not pick up new prescriptions at the pharmacy, allowing providers to intervene before claims data arrives.
