The company demands zero-data-retention terms to back its sovereign artificial intelligence push.
Palantir Technologies has tightened restrictions around Anthropic advanced artificial intelligence models due to data-retention concerns. The software company demanded irrevocable zero-data-retention guarantees before making those models available through its platform.
In August Palantir told investors that clients must keep full control over their operations, data, and decisions. It stressed that proprietary information should never serve as training data for future models. On 10 September the company expanded its sovereign AI push alongside Nvidia, deploying Nvidia Nemotron open models on customer-controlled infrastructure.
Anthropic responded to corporate privacy concerns on 1 September by announcing Enterprise Frontier Safeguards. That system stores data in customer-controlled cloud infrastructure with zero-data-retention protections, and rollouts will start later this fall.
Palantir reported second-quarter results showing a 149% increase in United States commercial revenue. Institutional ownership tracked by Insider Monkey showed 86 hedge funds holding long positions in the second quarter of 2026, down from 96 in the first quarter, though Arrowstreet Capital increased its stake by 97%. As of 31 August, short interest stood at 65.13 million shares, representing 3.00% of the float with 2.2 days to cover.
