CEO David Ellison weighs leaving Hollywood amid an $111 billion merger battle
Paramount is scouting office space in Nashville as it considers relocating out of Hollywood, according to a report by Politico. The media company is seeking 400,000 square feet of office space that it could occupy over the next two to three years. Nashville currently lacks an existing vacancy of that size, leading the studio to evaluate built-to-suit construction options.
The search follows reports that Paramount CEO David Ellison has also explored Austin as a potential future home. The New York Post reported that the company has focused on the Bluebonnet Business Center, which is one of two available spaces exceeding 400,000 square feet in the Texas city. Austin offers established film infrastructure such as Austin Studios and Troublemaker Studios.
The consideration of Nashville and Austin mirrors steps taken by Ellison's father, Larry Ellison, who shifted Oracle's headquarters from California to Austin in 2020 before scheduling a move to a new Nashville campus planned for 2031.
The prospective relocation comes while Paramount pursues a contested $111 billion merger with Warner Bros. Discovery. California is one of 12 states that have sued Paramount over the proposed transaction, spurring speculation about whether the relocation discussions reflect real exit plans or legal leverage.
