Non-primary sectors grew 5.0% while year-to-date activity reached 3.1% expansion.
Peru's gross domestic product grew 3.6% year-on-year in July 2026, driven by positive performance across non-primary industries, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru reported. With this print, total economic activity accumulated an expansion of 3.1% over the course of 2026.
The central bank stated that the non-primary sector advanced 5.0% year-on-year in July. Commerce expanded 6.8% and services rose 4.7%. Construction and electricity also maintained momentum, with electricity generation boosted by higher residential and commercial consumption amid warmer weather temperatures.
In contrast, the primary sector contracted 1.4% during the month, with declines across all subsectors except metallic mining. Fishing and related manufacturing fell due to the suspension of the anchovy season in the north-central zone. Hydrocarbon output dropped primarily because of lower oil extraction in Lot 95.
The agricultural sector also shrank. The central bank linked the decrease to earlier harvests of domestic staples such as potatoes and rice, along with temperature anomalies and an olive surplus from the previous year.
