Petrobras delays dedicated SAF plant startups by one year

Petrobras has delayed the operational startup of its three dedicated sustainable aviation fuel plants by one year. William França, the company's Industrial Processes and Products Director, announced the revised schedule during the ROG.e conference on September 24, 2026.

Under the updated timeline, the dedicated unit at the Presidente Bernardes refinery in Cubatão, which has a projected capacity of 16,000 barrels per day, is now expected to begin operations in 2030 instead of 2029.

Two other dedicated facilities have had their startup targets pushed from 2030 to 2031. These include the 19,000-barrel-per-day plant at the Boaventura Complex and the 10,000-barrel-per-day unit at the Paulínia refinery. Across all three dedicated plants, planned combined production capacity stands at 45,000 barrels per day.

Alongside dedicated facilities, Petrobras continues to develop fuel output through co-processing. The company aims to complete its co-processing implementation route at the Paulínia refinery in 2026.
