Public Storage shares dropped 2.32% to close at $294.60 on 9 September 2026. The stock retreated $7.00 during the trading session from its previous close of $301.60. Intraday trading saw the share price reach a high of $302.81 before slipping to a low of $293.85, with daily volume reaching 734,960 shares.
The company outperformed its main peer Extra Space Storage, which dropped 2.54% or $3.53 to finish at $135.63. However, rival CubeSmart saw a smaller decline of 1.94%. Broader markets also faced losses, as the S&P 500 fell 0.5% or 37.16 points to 7,636.36 points, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.8% or 405.41 points to 52,380.66 points, and the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.6% or 168.07 points to 26,253.34 points. The yield on the benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury note stood at 4.836%.
Alongside the market movements, Public Storage priced a public offering of 400 million Canadian dollars in senior notes. The issuance marks the real estate investment trust's inaugural bond deal in the Canadian market. The notes carry an annual coupon of 4.540% and were priced at par at 100% of their principal amount.
