On 17 September 2026, Roche and its subsidiary Genentech opened the Roche Genentech Innovation Center Boston at Harvard's Enterprise Research Campus in Allston. The opening is part of a broader 50 billion dollar investment program by Roche and Genentech in United States manufacturing and research and development.
The companies signed a 10-year lease for the 95,000-square-foot facility, which will house up to 500 workers across research, clinical development, and data science disciplines. The site integrates artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science teams from Roche Product Development and Genentech Research and Early Development to study cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis, and hypertension.
The Boston hub complements established research teams in South San Francisco and Basel, Switzerland, while building on recent manufacturing projects in Holly Springs, North Carolina, and Hillsboro, Oregon. Roche and Genentech maintain approximately 25,000 employees, 15 research centers, and 13 manufacturing facilities in the United States.
