Rocket Lab signs 20-launch Electron contract with Synspective
The agreement is the company's largest commercial deal to date and lifts its backlog over 100 missions.
Rocket Lab announced on September 30, 2026, that it signed a multi-year launch agreement for 20 new Electron missions with Tokyo-based Earth observation firm Synspective. The contract represents the largest commercial launch contract for Electron in Rocket Lab's history. The remaining financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The new agreement brings the total count of Electron missions awarded by Synspective to 47, making it the largest launch customer for Rocket Lab. Under the contract, Rocket Lab will launch 20 StriX synthetic aperture radar satellites to sun-synchronous orbit from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1. Launches are scheduled to take place annually from 2028 through 2031.
The contract pushes Rocket Lab's total launch backlog beyond 100 missions. Synspective plans to use the dedicated flights to expand its satellite constellation to deliver imagery of any location on Earth within hours, in day or night and across all weather conditions.
Sir Peter Beck, founder and CEO of Rocket Lab, stated that securing 20 launches in a single deal represents a strong vote of confidence in Electron's cadence, reliability, and orbital precision. Dr. Motoyuki Arai, founder and CEO of Synspective, noted that the dedicated missions provide long-term certainty for the firm's constellation expansion.
