Total client assets reached $13.41 trillion as core net new assets climbed 46%.
The Charles Schwab Corporation reported on 15 September 2026 that core net new assets reached $64.8 billion in August 2026. This represents a 46% increase compared to August 2025 and marks an all-time record for the month of August.
Total client assets ended August at $13.41 trillion. That figure rose 19% from August 2025 and gained 3% compared to July 2026. New brokerage accounts opened during the month reached 424,000, up 11% year over year.
Investor engagement remained elevated across trading and borrowing activities. Margin loan balances rose 58% from year-end to $177.6 billion, while daily average trades totaled 9.8 million. For the month, margin loans stood at $53.7 billion and short credits totaled $55.8 billion.
Transactional sweep cash increased by $6.5 billion to reach $483.3 billion at the end of August, supported by client demand for long and short strategies. As of 31 August 2026, the company maintained 40.1 million active brokerage accounts, 5.9 million workplace plan participant accounts, and 2.4 million banking accounts.
