Southern Copper, through its unit Southern Perú, has reached an investment portfolio exceeding PEN 1,500 million under Peru's Works for Taxes public-private mechanism. The company presented these results on Tuesday at the Perú Sostenible 2026 Summit.

The portfolio includes 43 projects across executed works, ongoing construction, and new initiatives located in Apurímac, Arequipa, Cajamarca, Moquegua, and Tacna. According to the company, these interventions benefit two million Peruvian families. Education accounts for 52% of the total investment, followed by transportation with 32%, basic infrastructure with 9%, healthcare with 5%, and other sectors with 2%.

Southern Perú began using the mechanism in 2011 with the Chilina Bridge megaproject in Arequipa. More recently, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, it completed two equipped High Performance Colleges in Tacna and Moquegua, with plans to build similar facilities in Apurímac, Arequipa, and Cajamarca. The initiative aligns with nine of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Miguel Camacho Izquierdo, Head of Community Development Projects, noted during his presentation that the company plans to join the new OxI Exprés mechanism. Created by Emergency Decree No. 010-2026, this program aims to accelerate prevention and rehabilitation works for the El Niño phenomenon during the 2026-2027 period.
