Tesla expands its Cybercab fleet in Austin to 125 cars

Tesla expanded the size of its Cybercab fleet operating under its Robotaxi program in Austin, Texas, to more than 100 vehicles over the weekend. According to Teslarati, Cybercab availability rose from 58 vehicles on Sept. 21, 2026, to 125 on Sept. 25, 2026.

The addition of steering-wheel-free and pedal-free vehicles aims to ease previously lengthy wait times for passengers using the ride-hailing service. Riders received notifications through the Robotaxi application stating that the Cybercab fleet had doubled and more rides were available.

Tesla began offering Cybercab rides in early September, while its broader Robotaxi service has been operating for more than a year following initial rides that began in the summer of 2025. The two-seat vehicle is specifically designed for fully autonomous travel without human intervention.

Cybercab rides remain limited to Austin for now, although the vehicles have undergone testing across several U.S. states and regions. Tesla has indicated plans to deploy Cybercabs to additional U.S. cities in the coming months if the rollout progresses as planned.
