SoundHound AI announced on September 30, 2026, the deployment of its voice and generative artificial intelligence technology in the Kia Sorento SUV in India. The rollout marks the global debut of the Kia AI Assistant with Real-Time Generative AI for the Sorento vehicle lineup.
Activated by the wake-up command "Hey Kia", the system combines SoundHound's proprietary voice platform with generative tools for multi-turn conversations. Drivers can control in-cabin features such as climate, lighting, windows, and driving modes using natural speech. The platform also provides answers about vehicle features from the digital owner's manual and handles live navigation, news updates, and local searches.
