TIM Brasil has active NB-IoT telemetry projects underway with natural gas distribution companies in Brazil. Executive Alexandre Dal Forno confirmed the deployments in an interview published by BNamericas on October 8, 2026, marking an expansion of the telecom operator's enterprise utility portfolio.

The telecom operator focuses on five strategic B2B market verticals. The company uses its 700 MHz spectrum to achieve broad IoT coverage and applies refarming on the 1800 MHz band to provide additional network capacity. TIM formally elevated its dedicated IoT operations within the business in 2017.

The move into gas telemetry follows broader utility initiatives. In sanitation, water utility Sabesp plans to reach 4,000,000 smart meters, having installed 100,000 units over a one-year period. TIM indirectly serves between 3,500 and 4,000 connected sanitation points linked to that utility ecosystem. In the power sector, TIM works on private network deployments such as CPFL on 450 MHz spectrum, helping offset a two-year downturn in the agricultural sector cited by Dal Forno.
