Ternium, the steelmaker unit of Grupo Techint, is consolidating its manufacturing footprint in Brazil through large scale capital projects in Usiminas and at its industrial hub in Rio de Janeiro. Since entering Usiminas's controlling group in 2012, Ternium has accumulated more than BRL 25 billion in acquisitions of industrial operations, supporting more than 15,000 direct jobs across six Brazilian states.

In February 2026, Ternium spent BRL 1.7 billion to purchase additional shares in Usiminas, strengthening its status as the primary shareholder of the Brazilian flat steel maker. The move coincided with Ternium's 20th anniversary of listing on the New York Stock Exchange, celebrated on October 8, 2026, by ringing the closing bell. Modernization spending at Usiminas reached BRL 7 billion over the past five years, led by a BRL 2.7 billion overhaul of Blast Furnace 3 finished in 2024. Usiminas plans to finish 2026 with total capital outlays between BRL 1.2 billion and BRL 1.4 billion as it focuses on energy efficiency and expanding coke output.

At its own industrial center in Santa Cruz, Rio de Janeiro, Ternium is on track to accumulate more than BRL 3.5 billion in investments from 2022 to 2026. The facility holds an annual production capacity of 5 million tons of steel slabs, with funds allocated to modernizing facilities, production efficiency, and sustainability projects.

Also in Santa Cruz, Ternium opened the Roberto Rocca Technical School in 2026 after investing BRL 260 million. The school currently educates 384 scholarship students in mechatronics and electromechanics, with enrollment projected to reach 576 students in 2027. The facility serves youth from Santa Cruz, Paciência, Sepetiba, and Itaguaí.
