Annualized settlement volume jumped more than 15 times compared with the prior year.
Visa announced that settlement volume for its stablecoin-linked cards surpassed an annualized rate of $20 billion. The figure represents a more than 15-fold increase compared with the previous year, making it one of the company's fastest-growing business segments.
This total reflects the volume of stablecoins used to clear financial transactions between program participants and Visa, rather than total retail spending by cardholders. Visa also reported that payment volume on these cards grew nearly 200% year over year, with more than 160 active card programs now linked to stablecoins.
Data from platform Paymentscan, which tracks broader industry activity across multiple networks, shows that monthly card spending in this category reached $1.03 billion in July and rose to $1.11 billion in August.
