The enterprise cloud software provider aims to sharpen its commercial narrative around artificial intelligence products.
Workday appointed Sarah Kennedy Ellis as Chief Marketing Officer on 15 September 2026, effective immediately. Ellis previously held senior marketing roles at Google and Adobe, bringing enterprise software and cloud marketing experience to the company.
In her new role, Ellis oversees global marketing, brand narrative, and go-to-market messaging for Workday's artificial intelligence product portfolio. The enterprise cloud software provider holds a market capitalization of $46.8 billion and serves large organizations in the United States and internationally.
The leadership change comes as Workday seeks to clarify its commercial messaging around AI workflows, ecosystem development, and AI agent adoption. Clearer product positioning addresses investor scrutiny regarding slower projected revenue growth as well as competitive pressure across human capital management and enterprise resource planning markets.
Upcoming earnings calls will serve as a test for the new strategy. Investors will monitor metrics such as AI attach rates, specific growth contributions from AI tools, and partner-driven annual contract value above 20%.
