YPF introduced Argentina's first electric hydraulic fracturing fleet for unconventional operations on 11 September 2026. The company added the equipment to strengthen its operational capacity and support rising activity in the Vaca Muerta formation.
Halliburton developed the new system as an upgrade over conventional hydraulic fracturing fleets. The electric fleet includes pumping units capable of delivering up to 5,000 continuous horsepower, while precision controls allow real-time operational adjustments and cut traditional maintenance tasks.
The addition aligns with YPF's broader growth plan and its 4x4 strategy. This strategy focuses on accelerating unconventional resource development through technologies that raise productivity, optimize operational times, and elevate environmental performance standards.
