Airbnb partnered with American Farmland Trust to launch Farm to Stay, an initiative offering grants of up to $10,000 to agricultural producers across the United States. Announced on September 23, the program will begin accepting applications in November. The funds are aimed at helping farmers and ranchers renovate properties for guests or design agricultural experiences such as apple picking, wine tastings, farm-to-table dinners, and farming workshops.

According to Airbnb, farm hosts using its platform earned nearly $8,000 on average during 2025, while total revenue across all farm hosts reached around $120 million that year. Areas adding new rural stays experienced overall revenue growth about 15% faster. Citing Google Trends, the company noted that US searches for farm stays nearly quadrupled between 2016 and early 2026, while total host earnings in the category rose almost 400% since 2018.

The push comes as small US agricultural operations face rising production expenses, market volatility, and severe weather. Citing USDA economic research, Airbnb stated that the median farm income for small farm households was negative by approximately $2,800 in 2024. The initiative seeks to provide extra income so families can sustain their land and maintain local food production.
