América Móvil's Claro hosts Móvil Éxito in Colombia

Claro Colombia, a unit of América Móvil, has reached an agreement with Grupo Éxito's Móvil Éxito to provide its mobile network infrastructure to the virtual mobile operator, according to reporting from Portafolio on September 28, 2026. This marks the first time Claro Colombia participates in the market as a host network operator for a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).

Móvil Éxito began operations in 2013 and spent the last 12 years relying exclusively on the infrastructure of Colombia Móvil-Tigo. Under the new agreement, Móvil Éxito will add Claro's network alongside Tigo to deliver mobile voice, text, and data connectivity to its roughly 2.2 million users.

According to the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) and the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications (MinTIC), Colombia had 92.9 million mobile lines at the close of 2025. Claro led the market with a 44.8% market share, representing approximately 41.6 million lines, while the integrated Tigo and Movistar business reached 41.5%.

CRC data also showed a recovery for Colombian MVNOs during the first quarter of 2026. The virtual segment narrowed its net negative number portability balance to about 40,000 lines, reflecting a 57.5% improvement over the first quarter of 2025. Among virtual operators posting positive net gains, ETB added 3,316 lines, Plintron added 2,073 lines, Móvil Éxito gained 1,638 lines, and Suma added 1,431 lines.
