Anthropic creates program to advise 2028 candidates
A job posting outlines an in-house effort to educate both parties and manage political funds.
Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic is establishing an in-house presidential engagement program ahead of the 2028 U.S. elections. According to a job description published by the company, the initiative involves hiring a political programs lead to advise presidential candidates from both major political parties on technology policy, guide internal strategy, and manage the firm's political funding.
The posting specifies that the role pays between $295,000 and $345,000 annually and requires at least 12 years of experience in national politics, campaigns, or political committees. The hire will map potential candidates across both parties, prepare Anthropic executives for policy discussions, and manage political contributions, including its employee-funded political action committee, AnthroPAC, which launched in April with an individual contribution cap of $5,000 per year.
The political initiative emerges before an impending initial public offering that could value Anthropic at up to $2 trillion. In March, the U.S. Department of Defense labeled Anthropic a supply chain risk following disagreements over military applications of its models. In July, CEO Dario Amodei contributed $1 million to Public First, a political committee that advocates for artificial intelligence oversight, according to Politico.
