Apple adds SCE energy tracking tools to its Home app

GridX announced on September 23, 2026, that it is partnering with Southern California Edison to deliver residential electricity usage data directly to Apple's Home app.

Starting on that date, Southern California Edison customers using an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch running software version 27 can connect their utility accounts to the Home app. The integration lets users monitor hourly and daily electricity usage and compare their habits against their rate plans.

The Home app also includes a Grid Forecast feature. This tool helps users see when the regional electric grid is powered by cleaner energy sources such as solar and wind.

GridX acts as the technology integration partner by transforming and standardising utility data for Apple's platform. GridX CEO Chris Black stated that the company aims to expand access to energy data across utilities and technology providers.
