The new chief aims to flatten management and rethink traditional product release cycles, according to Bloomberg News.
Just weeks into his tenure as Apple CEO, John Ternus is preparing a major structural overhaul of the company. The initiative aims to accelerate product development, broaden the device ecosystem, and build a leaner organization. The move offers the first clear look at how the former hardware chief intends to reshape Apple after Tim Cook led the tech giant for 15 years.
According to a Bloomberg News report on internal plans, Ternus wants to cut middle management layers to close the distance between senior leadership and engineers. Ternus told colleagues that this flatter structure is needed to create a more experimental and fast-moving culture to compete in artificial intelligence.
As part of the shift, Ternus is weighing an exit from Apple's rigid spring and fall launch cycles. Instead, the company may adopt a more fluid schedule to bring new devices and software features to market faster.
The changes also align with broader cost-cutting efforts. With growth slowing in its high-margin services business, Ternus is pursuing new revenue streams and looking for ways to generate more profit from Apple's existing hardware lineup.
