The brokerage integrates models from Anthropic and OpenAI directly into its app.
Robinhood Markets announced on Tuesday that it is rolling out AI-agent-led trading accounts for retail customers. The company is also preparing other products, including perpetual futures contracts tied to crypto, options tied to corporate earnings, and weekend stock trading. CEO Vlad Tenev stated that the lineup aims to deliver sophisticated tools once reserved for hedge funds, large banks, and quantitative firms.
The brokerage first opened its platform to external artificial intelligence agents in May, and roughly 150,000 customers have opened agentic accounts since then. This new release integrates the setup directly into Robinhood's mobile app. Customers can direct AI agents to track markets and execute trades, including recurring strategies based on pre-set conditions.
Robinhood will initially provide access to models built by Anthropic and OpenAI. The company will bill users for model usage through its platform, though OpenAI's Luna model will remain free through the end of 2026. Robinhood declined to disclose whether it has revenue-sharing agreements with these AI providers.
By default, the platform requires trade-by-trade approval, but users can turn this setting off to enable fully autonomous execution. Agents can only trade using funds placed in a designated agentic account, and customers remain responsible for all trades. Robinhood will distribute access to the new accounts randomly over the coming weeks, while attendees at its active trader event in Houston, Texas, received immediate access.
