The retailer built the generative AI system on Microsoft Copilot Studio to cut manual tasks
Brazilian food retailer Assaí partnered with telecom operator Vivo to launch Auditus, a generative artificial intelligence agent designed for the retailer's internal audit department. The companies announced the initiative on Thursday, 17 September.
Built on Microsoft Copilot Studio, Auditus integrates directly into Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, and Copilot Chat. The system reads and interprets documents, delivers responses aligned with internal policies, suggests technical approaches, and standardises professional language across audit routines. Vivo structured the underlying technology ecosystem, which combines Microsoft licenses, Microsoft 365 integration, validation testing, and staff training.
The deployment followed a proof of concept conducted in an isolated environment at Assaí. The system adheres to information security protocols under Microsoft Purview and Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD). Valdério Matias, director of internal audit and corporate investigations at Assaí, noted that audit operations handle a large volume of data requiring accuracy, consistency, and speed, with the tool intended to reinforce governance.
According to data from the Brazilian Supermarket Association (Abras) and NielsenIQ Homescan, Assaí is Brazil's largest food retailer. The company recorded revenue of BRL 84.7 billion in 2025, serves 40 million customers each month, and operates more than 310 stores across 24 states and the Federal District.
