AT&T and infrastructure provider Itron announced on Oct. 12, 2026, that they are expanding their collaboration. The agreement integrates Itron's 500G Cellular Gas Module and 500W Cellular Water Module directly with AT&T's nationwide LTE-M network.

The integration allows utility providers to collect consumption, event, and alarm data remotely and securely across their service territories. The cellular connection eliminates the requirement for utility operators to build and maintain separate communications infrastructure, helping cut operational costs and reduce truck dispatches.

Earlier in 2026, Itron added compatibility for both modules to UtilityIQ, its central software management suite. The combined solution helps gas utilities improve billing accuracy and distribution tracking, while water utilities can accelerate leak detection efforts and manage resource conservation.

By connecting Itron's 500G Cellular Gas Module and 500W Cellular Water Module through our network, we're working to help give utilities a flexible way to connect distributed assets and access operational data across their service territories.
