Porto Seguro has updated its life insurance portfolio with specific coverages designed for women. The new plans provide protection for assisted reproduction and fertility preservation following a cancer diagnosis.

Under the assisted reproduction terms, the policy pays an indemnity to women who do not achieve a confirmed pregnancy after three IVF attempts. The financial payout can fund an additional procedure or be used as the policyholder sees fit. The fertility preservation coverage provides financial support to freeze eggs and ovarian tissue before chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatments.

Patricia Chacon, head of insurance at Grupo Porto, told Valor that while their policies already covered critical illnesses, the insurer sought to assist women who want to pursue motherhood after cancer treatment. The company launched three new products named accidental protection, essential protection, and protection your way, which also cover lifetime events such as broken bones and surgical risks. Chacon noted that only 7% of people currently hold life insurance.

The portfolio overhaul comes during strong growth in the company's life division. In the second quarter, Porto Seguro reached 6.4 million insured lives, marking a 17% increase over twelve months. Chacon stated that the life segment remains one of the firm's primary growth drivers to gain market share across Brazil in coming years.
