BASF Launches Low-Emission Polyurethane Catalyst Lupragen

BASF expanded its amine catalyst portfolio with the launch of Lupragen BisDMAPU. The low-emission catalyst is designed for flexible polyurethane foam applications and will be sold globally under the Lupragen trademark. The product addresses rising demand from manufacturers for emission-optimized foams.

The catalyst supports gelling and blowing reactions to provide foam formation and dimensional stability. Featuring low volatility and low odor, it suits applications requiring low volatile organic compounds. Target uses include slabstock and molded foams for furniture, mattresses and automotive interiors, alongside reactive hotmelt adhesives, two-component epoxy systems and cationic polymers.

This addition complements Lupragen N 208, which BASF introduced in December 2025. The company manufactures urea compounds in Ludwigshafen using a backward-integrated setup to maintain steady supplies.

Over the past year, BASF shares have gained 20.4%, while the broader industry declined 2.7%.
